I can't view or edit references in Annotum. It just looks like the screenshot I attached.

I'm working on some better help documentation for references, but the short answer is to use the "insert reference" button in the editor (it is labeled '[1]').  Click the button, enter your reference information, save, check the box, and click "insert reference".

The "references" box will update with any references that you add, and a footnote marker will be inserted at the point in the text where you clicked the "insert reference" button.

Hope this helps!  If not please feel free to post a follow up question at http://annotum.uservoice.com

Ok, I understand, but I can't find the insert reference button in the
editor.
Seems like I don't have all the tools options as I've seen in other
screenshots. How come?

Got it.  There is a button to show/hide the full toolbar (two rows).  Please see these images:

The button itself:

An annotated image of the full, two-row toolbar:

Hope this helps!

WordPress traditionally hides the second row by default, but it should probably be visible by default in Annotum.

Hello,

Happily using Annotum. I am having some issues however with inserting figures.
I am using Annotum on a multi-site environment.
Whenever I try and insert a figure I insert it.. it shows up, and then when I save , it disappears in the editor and in the published article.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

Thanks

This happens if your server has a version of libxml below 2.6.29:
