I would like to use Annotum on a website where I am running s2member Pro.

s2member is a free plugin that can assign user membership levels to the site, and provides conditional short codes that allows entire posts or partial content within a post to be viewable only to assigned member levels.

For example, using HTML within a post, I could make a paragraph or other content (an image) viewable only to someone who is logged in by using this Text code:

[s2If current_user_is(s2member_level0)]
This text would appear only to a member who is logged in.
[/s2If]

Is it possible to directly edit Annotum Article HTML code inside the WP Dashboard?

The only way to modify the HTML in an article would be to manipulate it via a browser feature such as "inspect element" in Chrome. But, note that the article is quite aggressive about stripping out anything that isn't part of its internal tag set due to the way we enforce the Kipling NLM XML schema.

Give it a try, but you may find that posts or pages will support this better.

I'm afraid editing HTML at the browser level would mean that the end-user needs to do it, and that won't work for my purposes.

However, I was able to export a sample article, add customized HTML text to
, and import the file as a regular WP import and it worked fine. The membership level codes were not stripped out, and the sample text enclosed within the conditional shortcodes appeared when it should.

Thank you.

Great workaround! Note that you may need to repeat this process if you make any changes to the article content, since the cleanup happens on save.

Cleaning-up during a save is a concern, because the review and editing process is a feature that appeals to me and is why I'm sampling the Annotum theme.

I've attached a screen print of the Body area within WP > Articles.

I have edited text within the body, pressed the Update button, and viewed the article when logged in, and when not logged in, and it still kept the additional code.

I have not tested the editing and review process for others assigned to the article.

Thank you for your time.

If you have saved and the shortcodes remain it should work during editing and so forth. Save is independent of workflow actions. I would suggest submitting, approving, and publishing a test article to verify that things will work as you expect.
