Hi,

Sorry for bringing this "Knol issue" in here: Redirects from Knol
don't work since a week already...

Some of you might know the Knol engineers, so, could anyone please
wake up Knol engineers to resolve that problem, thanks in advance for
your precious help...

Have a nice day and best regards,
Gust

Thanks for the link Murry, and thanks particularly for your detailed description of the exact problem on Quora.  I'll be passing this info along to Google presently.

Google engineers have entered a "priority zero" (highest priority) bug for this and are actively working on it.

It appears to be something external to the knol redirect code which has been quite stable for over three months.

More when I know more.

Thanks Carl. This is an important issue for Knol content providers. We
appreciate you bringing it to the attention of the Google engineers.

Google  reports this issue fixed as of around 11:30am PDT, and I have confirmed that it is fixed for my own test knol.

Big thanks from all, Carl. And to Bill Strathearn. Had we known that Bill remained in Knol harness, we could have written directly when the problem first cropped up. Google is a weird player to my team at KPG. We think big G squandered some very cool free talent -- genuine talent in the likes of Peter Baskerville and Gust Mees (and many others). I'm considering a marketing book or tract about it.

Hi, Carl --

Sorry to say that the redirect function has quit working once again. Exactly the same way. Can you pulse Bill Strathearn to fix? I don't have his e-mail.

Knol's original three musketeers -- Peter Baskerville, Krishan Maggon and myself -- are using Annotum Sans to migrate important historical Knols about Knol. Although Knol probably ranks just a footnote in the long term, historically speaking it broke new Internet ground. Our team quite thoroughly chronicled the progress and wish to preserve it using Annotum. We need those redirects to carry forward the high page rank we achieved.

Thanks,
Murry

Hi,

I agree with Murry. I tried it and it stops on Step 3... This is now
more than 1 hour, can't be possible, sorry. Please check and resolve.
Thx in advance...

Response from Google:

The redirects are actually still working for most users, but it looks like Murry has encountered some kind of an error while saving a particular URL that he provided as input.

I'll look into it this week, but the problem shouldn't be encountered by most.
