Post 49th Annie-Versary! "It's The Hard-Knock Life" (1977)

In celebration of #Annie opening on Broadway 49 years ago. I had such nostalgic fun recreating the original sound of "It's the Hard-Knock Life" from the 1977 cast recording. From beatboxing and humming my interpretation of the instrument parts in my (late) grandmothers reverberant kitchen at the age of ten (who always loved the timpani drums in the original cast recording), to officially releasing an actual instrumental recording of the same tune 25 years later is a full circle milestone in itself. Getting the electric guitar tuned to the right tone for the introductory chord progression was a "hard-knock" challenge (lol), but once it was found, everything came together onwards.

Note: The recording does not include the "HKL Intro" (Underscore) or the Interlude as the standard license did not cover these details, but there is a instrumental album of all the songs in the works with additional musicians where the recordings may be able to be expanded further.

Chris, this is absolutely fantastic. The amount of care you’ve put into this is obvious, and what a pleasure to listen to. And A+ on that electric guitar - that RMI Keyboard sound is damn near impossible to recreate.

Very well done! I love the original cast album orchestration, and I agree with your grandmother that the use of timpani in HKL is really effective.
