The Confucius Institute at the University of Michigan is pleased to offer
Chinese Vocal Music Workshops
Free and open to the public, the weekly workshops offer a unique
opportunity to learn Chinese songs in an encouraging and fun atmosphere.
The workshop is sponsored by the Confucius Institute of the University of
Michigan with the purpose of providing U-M faculty, staff, students, and
community members different ways to experience Chinese music and culture.
No prior singing background or Chinese language proficiency is required.
Date/Time: During Fall 2012 (September to December), workshop sessions will
be held on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm. (Wednesday evenings for the
month of October.) The session runs from September 25 to December 18.
Location: Great Lake Room, 4th Floor, Palmer Commons, 100 Washtenaw Ave,

Instructor:Liyan SUN (孙丽燕). Liyan Sun received a postgraduate
diploma of advanced studies in opera performance from Royal Northern
College of Music in Manchester, UK. Her undergraduate study of vocal and
opera performance was completed at the Central Conservatory of Music in
Beijing, China. She is a voice instructor at the University of Windsor in
Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
