For those of you who are interested I will once again be hosting the Night of the Day of the Dead run.  The Day of the Dead or Dia De Los Muertos is a time for us to think about and honor those friends and relatives who have departed our world.  We will do so by running from the Argo Canoe Livery thorough Bird Hills and back as the sun sets and the spirits of our loved ones begin to visit our strange land.

Here are the details:

Date: November 2, 2008
Time: 6:30 pm
Meet at the Argo Canoe Livery with headlamp and/or handheld light ready to run.  We will start running right around 6:45 pm as it is getting dark.  I will have a route marked which is just over 5 miles.  You can shorten or lengthen the course if you so desire.

After the run we will head over to Arbor Brewing Co. for food and beverages.

Wear costumes if you like.  Make sure to sign the Blog on a Log as we make our way through Bird Hills.

I hope you can make it out.  Running trails at night can be quite fun.

If you are like me the only thing you stretch is the truth every now and then.  For those of you thinking about adding more stretching into your routine Earl Wenk from Arbor Wellness has posted a rather comprehensive outline of stretching for runners.  The stretches he demonstrates are what is known as Active Isolated Stretching or AIS.  If you are interested you can download the brochure here: http://www.arborwellness.com/Stretching_for_Runners.pdf

This will open up a 17 page pdf file which you can print and begin to incorporate into your workouts.  If people are interested Earl is planning on putting together a class/demonstartion of the technique.  I will let you know when he sets the time/place/date.

Also, start making plans for the Fat Ass 50.  Last year we had 14 people run the 50K plus one person run the 50 miler.  A bunch of other people came out and ran anywhere from 6 to 18 miles.  Mark you calendars.  Dec. 27th.

After the Fat Ass we can head over to Arbor Brewing Co. where they will have a small batch of Fat Ass Ale on tap for us.  It will be available until it runs out!!  Make sure you stop by after the run and have a pint or two of the first ever Fat Ass Ale available from our friends at Arbor Brewing.  I am told it will be a scotch ale which is a perfect choice for the season.
