Scott Jurek, seven time winner of the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run, will be making two appearances in Michigan. Tomorrow he will be at Playmakers in Okemos and then on the 29th he will be in Grand Rapids at Gazelle Sports. If you get the chance to go I am sure it will be quite inspirational. Scott is an amazing runner and a super nice guy. He was the person who coached me when I trained for and ran Western States. Click on the links for more information.

The Night of the Day of the Dead run.

We will meet at the Argo Canoe Livery on Saturday October 31. Run starts at 6:45 pm. (sunset is 6:29/civil twilight ends at 6:59 pm). The course will be marked and will be between 5 and 6 miles. Bring your headlamps/flashlights. If you have participated in previous years you will know that this us a fun/casual run followed by a gathering for food and beverages at a nearby residence.

If you plan to attend please send me a message letting me know you will be there. We will meet to celebrate my birthday at a friends home for some chili and bread and possibly a bottle or two of bubbly. I hope that you will join us and help me celebrate another year of living. Bring you own beer or drink some bad beer that we have left over from a previous party.

You may have heard of the men who stare at goats (soon to be a major motion picture) - Have you heard about the men (and women) who run with the head goat? If you are interested in joining the Head Goat (alias Randy Step) for some midweek trail running he will be running at Island Lake from Spring Mill Pond on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. Yes, he knows that is not the trail head. Yes, he knows 5:30 is early. But as the saying goes if you want to run with the goats you have to run when the goats run (I think that's how the saying goes).

November 7, 2009 Waterloo-Pinckney Trail 35 Mile Run - if you are interested in joing a couple of runners on a point to point run from Portage Lake to Silver Lake on the Waterloo Pinckney Trail contact Phil Stappert. Join for the full 35 miles or just join them for a smaller section.
