Sorry for the lack of communication last week. Hopefully those of you who raced had great experiences.
As I mentioned in my previous email I would like to highlight the experiences of the various members of this list. If you have something noteworthy that you would like to share - a race report, a new pr for time or distance, some great new trails you discovered - let me know. I am always hearing about something incredible people on this list are doing and think it would be fun and inspirational to share those experiences with the group.
On that note here is a link to Rick Leedy's Umstead 100 miler race report. His first 100 miler and he breaks 24 hours!

On a similar note sometimes I have people respond to the list to try to communicate some information to other list members. When you hit reply or reply all on this list the email goes to me and only me. I set this list up as announcement only because I did wanted to be able to promote trail running in the area without overwhelming people's inboxes.
I set up a separate email list in case people want to engage in discussion - share training strategies, try to setup a carpool to an event or trail run, etc. No one (including me) is using that list but it still exists and can be utilized. There aren't many people on the list at this point. If anyone is interested you can find the list here: http://groups.google.com/group/south-east-michigan-trail-runners

I normally limit the events on the list to trail events but want to let everyone know that list member/breast cancer survivor Amy is looking for more runners to join her team - Amy's Army - for the Detroit version of the Race for the Cure. The date is May 30 at 8:00 am at Comerica Park. If you are interested in joining the team and helping out a great cause shoot Amy an email at IRun...@aol.com. I Want YOU to Join Amy's Army.

*** I stopped in Bivouac last week to check out the trail selection of trail shoes and have to say it is quite impressive. I only had a few minutes but I saw some nice Montrail's at a decent price and that's before the 15% discount you get for being a member of this list.
Thanks to Bob who is a list member and the manager of Bivouac in Ann
Arbor members of the Ann Arbor Trail Runners now get a 15% discount
off of shoes and outdoor clothes at Bivouac.
Just let the cashier and/or the manager know that you are a member of
the Ann Arbor Trail Runners and let them know that qualifies you for a
15% discount.

If you are like me the only thing you stretch is the truth every now
and then. For those of you thinking about adding more stretching into
your routine Earl Wenk from Arbor Wellness has posted a rather
comprehensive outline of stretching for runners. The stretches he
demonstrates are what is known as Active Isolated Stretching or AIS.
If you are interested you can download the brochure here: http://www.arborwellness.com/Stretching_for_Runners.pdf
This will open up a 17 page pdf file which you can print and begin to
incorporate into your workouts.
