so normally i can figure these things out but this one is stumping me.  how can I move / restore / merge / combine / import 3 recurring bills from a backup to my current book?

back around May 5th I screwed up and edited dates on 3 different recurring bills (that I'd created in Dec/Jan) and each ended prematurely due to my screw up. I tried to fix my mistake manually instead of just restoring a backup. Mainly because at the time I didn't know what had gone wrong and I was in a hurry.

so now I realize my manual attempt has my automatic entry of payments of these 3 items all messed up.

i have a backup of my anMoney book from before the screw up.

I want to effectively import / restore those 3 particular recurring bills from the backup to my current book

i don't mind having to manually delete or fix the overlapping dates/entries for these 3 items

I have tried to restore the backup but it says it will delete the entire book's data. UGH!! NO!!

i have clicked the backup file from my google storage and created a new book and verified the correct recurring bills are there (including the correct Dec & Jan starting dates).

Here's where the problem I can't solve. within book2 I can export but it seemingly only does transactions and not recurring bills.

a book2 backup does the whole shebang but see aforementioned UGH NO comment about trying to restore a backup from my current book.

I have tried editing those 3 recurring items to use a new "test" account. but still the export only does transactions and not recurring.

so any ideas?

so i fixed this the hard way since i couldn't find a way to move the recurring items between books

1) from my current book i exported all transactions from April 20th (date of backup) to June 30th
2) I restored the April 20th backup into a new book (as a precaution to preserve my current book despite having a current backup of it)
3) I imported the transaction file from step1
4) I manually corrected entries (duplicate, extra, missing)

finally (by total accident because I did it again) figured out what the original screw up was .... I had Edited the Payee to not have spaces before I changed the recurring items Payee to not have spaces. apparently upon doing it this way the recurring items had no idea what to link to and they hid/deleted themselves. so yeah i had to do all my manual backup, import, correction stuff AGAIN

but now it's all fixed. yay
