View the list of athletes named to the 2024 AVCA Boys High School All-American Watch List. In order to be featured on the list, each athlete must be in the process of completing their SENIOR year of high school.

In 2013 current principal Claudette Christie replaced longtime principal Kim Wanliss. Christie was previously assistant principal. She maintains that all adults at WATCH go the extra mile to support students and improve the school. "I clean classrooms, pick up garbage, do book clubs.... We do whatever needs to be done to keep the school in order," Christie says.

WATCH is located in the Thomas Jefferson Educational Campus in East New York. Although attendance has been slowly improving, it remains below the citywide average, and more than half the student body is chronically absent. There is an attendance teacher who is in charge of completing home visits in order to address this. According to the school's Quality Review, WATCH has embraced a new approach to discipline, aiming to implement more restorative methods rather than relying on detentions and suspensions.

Academically, there are three different areas of focus: Medical Science, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Sports Management. The school offers several Advanced Placement courses in subjects such as English literature, English composition, biology and calculus. Students can also take college courses for free at the Medgar Evers Pipeline Program and Berkeley College.

Students get additional help after the end of the regular school day. WATCH collaborates with a range of organizations such as Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering to provide support services as well as school-year and summer internship opportunities.

All New York City students should have equitable access to key gatekeeper and advanced courses that lead to college and career preparedness. Yet across the city, students who are Black, Latinx, and American Indian, and students from low-income backgrounds, are less likely than their peers to attend schools where advanced courses are offered. And even when they do attend schools that offer these courses, they are less likely to be given access.

Every student deserves a high school education that prepares them for college, careers, and active citizenship. For students who enroll in college, the best measure of college readiness is whether students ultimately succeed. Exploring this data will help you understand how prepared students from this high school were to persist through college/university and complete their postsecondary degrees or credentials.

How to read the radar graphs under By Race/Ethnicity: look at both the shape and size of the shaded area. If the shaded area is very small, then very few students from any racial/ethnic group have access to that type of course at this school. If the shaded area looks like a circle, then students from all racial/ethnic groups are taking that advanced course at about the same rate. If it has spikes or dips, then students from certain racial groups are taking the course at higher rates than students from other racial/ethnic groups.

This Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion data helps you understand how well this school is supporting students to access the financial resources and supports that make a critical difference in whether they are able to attend college.

National research shows that 90% of high school seniors who complete the FAFSA go to college immediately after graduation compared to just 55% of seniors who do not complete the FAFSA. High schools can make a significant difference in helping students who are low-income and first-generation college students complete the FAFSA.

Livingston will join Gilmore in College Park next year, but she will first look to lead Victor to a third straight New York State Class B championship. A 2023 USA Select U18 selection, she had 45 goals and 31 assists last year and has 108 goals and 50 points in her career.

It was not an easy 2023 season for Byrd, as the Michigan recruit spent most of the season out with an injury. She played in six contests, scoring 10 goals with 19 assists, before her season ended. But given how well she played as a sophomore, she is expected to be a player to watch in the region.

The Stanford recruit is poised to have yet another big season after producing 85 goals, 30 assists and 57 caused turnovers. She helped her team not only win a state title, but win every game by a minimum of five goals.

On a Wildcats team full of young talent, Doyle dazzled, recording 95 goals, 42 assists and 137 points as a freshman. Not that Doyle is simply a scorer. She also easily led USM with 160 draws and produced 52 ground balls.

The Rocks aren't a traditional Mitten State powerhouse, but Cotter is absolutely one of the region's top prospects. Indeed, Cotter has already committed to play at one of the great college powers: Syracuse. Her highlights last year included scoring 14 of her team's 18 goals in an 18-13 win at Saline and six of her team's nine goals in a tight loss to Plymouth.

A Marquette commit, Evens played a key role in the Red Knights emerging with last year's state title, including four points apiece in the semifinals and finals. Beyond her scoring prowess (56 goals, 41 assists), Evens also masterfully handles the circle for BSM, leading the team with 131 draw controls.

Thiel's 121 goals last year was impressive. Then consider that the Aviators played just 23 games. In other words, the Lindenwood commit averaged well over a hat trick (5.3 goals per game). The versatile talent also led Sycamore in draw controls (211) and ground balls (85).

Ranked the No. 1 2024 recruit by Inside Lacrosse, Osburn is a two-way player who impacts the game offensively and defensively. She works well with teammates and is capable of setting up others and scoring herself with strong dodging. She is important on the draw, causes turnovers and tracks down ground balls, and her speed and lacrosse IQ combined with her drive make the North Carolina commit the complete package.

A polished attacker, Park uses her speed and quickness to dodge for quality scoring chances. Her stick work is exceptional, too. Park averaged more than five goals per game as a sophomore and almost six per game last year. The Harvard-bound Park is relentless on the ride and also strong on the draw.

The conclusion of the 2023-2024 high school cheer season is met with much anticipation as the 2024 UCA High School Nationals begin to approach. The top high school cheerleaders from across the country will converge in Florida on Feb. 9-12 for the prestigious event.

For more than 40 years the UCA High School Nationals has marked the ending of the season for cheerleaders across the nation. Cheer teams from across the country will leave it all on the floor one last time for the 2023-2024 High school season and get to experience what is considered the most magical place in the word, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.

The UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships (NHSCC) return to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. to provide an exciting conclusion to the cheer season. This year's event features more than 1,000 teams from across the country who will leave everything on the stage this weekend.

The Super Division 1 Game Day is poised to bring top performances to the stage this weekend, the field features Desoto Central, Live Oak, Alamo Heights, Garnet Valley, Spain Park, and Hempfield Area. These are just a portion of the schools who's performances are highly anticipated following NHSCC 2023.

Instead of having separate home and road jerseys, my principal suggested reversible jerseys (I think our basketball team has them as well), which are certainly more budget-friendly, I was given a few catalog options that had uniform-designing apps, so I sat down with a couple of students to create the jerseys.

Great story! I appreciate your design sensibilities, Steve. As Paul mentioned, this story highlights the budget constraints that so many secondary schools operate under. What I appreciate is that there are still ways to put together a decent-looking uniform when you find the right vendor to work with.

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I think the suggestion that the lion face forward on the cap and sleeves is a good one! Thanks to all who suggested that and I should have thought of it. Will see if they can still change it.

Riverside won the Class AAAAA state title in 2021 and will be making its third finals appearance in four years. The Warriors (17-2) last week beat Christ Church Episcopal, 23-9, to win the Upper State.

Bella Bright, Jr., midfielder: Bright ranks fifth in the state with 90 goals and fourth in points with 128. She became a draw specialist this season as well and wins those at a 57.3 percent. Bright has scored 189 goals in her career. She had seven goals in the Upper State title game. She is committed to Florida Southern.
