Let's hope a) some company buys it, like Google or b) they release it as open source.
I'm not sure of the impact but it should probably work until Android os and the app no longer plays nice and the app needs an update.. I'm thinking of getting two devices just for overdrive and turn of all updates.

Digital Dream Labs acquired Anki in Dec 2019. You can visit their website for support of Anki and Overdrive cars. They are working on updating and releasing new products.
