Hello,
I'm confused with the card browser in v2. I use Japanese cards with reading and meaning field. In New version every card is twice. I cannot recognize, which card is for which direction to ask for. Every entry in the browser begins with the Japanese word and the fields are same, not changed. Apparently two entry's for one vocabulary that are looking the same. In the old version there was one card with Japanese at the beginning and second card with the reversed side, the German word. But it seems despite there is 1 card for one direction. Ist this normal, how it is displayed in the card browser? If I add a new entry with card type Japanese, there are two entry's looking same but since I am asked in both directions, it seems okay.?

Next confusing thing is, if I add new card and choose note type I have to choose Japanese. But in the list is displayed basic, basic, basic(and reversed card), basic(optional reversed card) and 13 times Japanese. Why are so much Japanese. Which I have to choose? It is the same on desktop and android client. Now I understood there are 13 times because I have 13 card decks. But if I add new cards and choose note type Japanese, one should be enough, because I didn't change anything. I downloaded Japanese plug in the old version and only used this.

I hope someone can help and explain me the reasons?

Best regards, Sven.

Tim

Hi Sven,

The browser shows all the cards matching your query, so if you have two cards per note (e.g. 'Forward' & 'Reverse') then you will see two entries for each word. This is the same behavior as Anki Desktop, the difference being that Anki Desktop has configurable columns, so you can see which card is from which direction. Unfortunately there is currently no way to configure the columns in AnkiDroid (this feature will hopefully be in a future version). Probably the easiest way to identify which card is which, is to simply remember that the forward direction is always listed before the reverse direction. Alternatively, you can long click on the card, then choose "card details" and inspect the card to see which direction it is. I've added an issue on the tracker for this information to be available more easily.

With regards to your second issue, you can fix this in the latest version of Anki Desktop by going tools->manage note types, and deleting any note types with no cards assigned to them.
