Recently, Ankidroid has become completely unusable for me.
Everytime I make changes to the collection on droid (study/add cards), and try to sync, the collection becomes inconsistent and requires a complete reupload.
However, Anki desktop works perfectly.

I have already tried clearing the app cache/deleting my collection from ankidroid and redownloading it/reinstalling ankidroid completely.
The problem persisted.

What could be causing this?

I had heard other people with similar issues. You could try an alpha release here: https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/releases

A new version is just about to be coming out.

Hi Pragy,

What steps do you do to reproduce the issue?
I really want to try and fix these full sync issues before we release v2.3

(Begin with ankidroid and ankidesktop in synced state)
 - Add cards using Anki desktop
 - Sync with Anki Desktop with Anki web (No problem here)
 - Sync Ankidroid with Anki web (No problem here)
 - Study Cards on Ankidroid
 - Sync Ankidroid with Anki Web: Collection in inconsistent state. Prompts to keep either local or remote collection.

(The inconsistency is resolved by uploading ankidroid collection to ankiweb, or manually importing the collection.anki2 file from droid to desktop - which can be tricky since the wal2 file does not always disappear even on clean exiting -, and then syncing the anki desktop.)
After removing the inconsistency, the whole process is reproducible.

Things I have noticed: Ankidroid sync does not cause an inconsistent state as long as I have made no study/card changes to the collection. Also, if I study just 1 or two cards, and then sync, the sync works fine. Inconsistency is caused only when I study a significant amount of cards (though still less than 100 cards)

PS: thanks for the quick response :)

Thanks, just to check, does the same thing happen with media sync disabled?

Also please confirm you're using the latest alpha version.

I have always had media sync enabled, and I haven't tried the alpha release yet.

I will test these two things and will get back to you ASAP.

The alpha release will produce a file named "collection.log" in your AnkiDroid directory. If you manage to reproduce the issue again on that version, it would help if you could send us this file as it might contain some clues about what is going on.
