When the Ankidroid wiki says it understands font colours and sizes,
does it only mean that you can change the general font size for all
text (under Preferences > Font Size) or is it possible to set
different font sizes for different fields?

On the desktop client I used the kanjistrokeorders font to display
kanji much larger than the other fields. I miss the font on Ankidroid,
but I can live without it. What I would really like is some way to
make the kanji expression a lot bigger than the others. I'm struggling
to pick out how to write kanji I don't really remember, but I don't
want huge text for the other fields as it pushes half the information
offscreen.

I'm using the 0.5 alpha version with syncing. AnkiOnline shows the
same sizes and colours as the desktop client (Settings > Fonts and
Colours), so I assumed the properties were saved in the deck somehow,
but Ankidroid recognised colours only after I used html to put them in
the card template. I have no problem with setting font properties
manually but I'd just like someone to confirm if I'm doing this
correctly and if it's possible to adjust the sizes for individual
fields.

Thanks.

Hi Lauren

I implemented the font size settings as relative font sizes: In Preferences of version 0.4.1.beta2 (not in the market yet, download it from AnkiDroid project home) use the "Relative display font size" (-> the font size to use in the display relative to the definitions in the deck). What happens is that it calculates the default size for the question field based on the current default font size and then calculates the font size of the other fields based on the relative differences as defined in the deck.

The reason for this is that I assumed that in most situations the absolute font sizes on the desktop client might not be correct on a handheld device. And I assumed that what really is important is
  • the relative difference between the different fields' font sizes
  • and the possibility to adapt the overall font size to the display on your Android device in order not to have to go into the deck settings and change them back and forth.
If I am wrong, please tell me.

Font colors are also working in version 0.4.1.beta2 (and the main branch if you are compiling from ground).

Font colors and relative font sizes are not working in the experimental versions of 0.5 for some reason.

Rick

Using the 0.4.1.beta2 completely solves my problem, thank you.
