How Anki import media from apkg file

Hello , 

I want to ask about something that always made me confused. 

As i know anki stores media in my local device. If that's right , how ankidroid gets media when i import apkg files while my media is still on another device.

I know my question may seem weird but I'm really confused about it.

I hope you answer me very soon.

Hi there!

The .apkg (or .colpkg) files that you export are just fancy .zip files, with a structure the program understands, part of which is where it puts media.

If you choose during export to export with media, then the files are copied into that .apkg file, so they are available for unpack on the other side.
