Hello,

is it to be expected that collections rich in media take abnormally long to process? I have around 12k media files. Android 4.0.4, Samsung galaxy note, ankidroid beta 20 and 21 (same issue).

Usually syncing takes a few seconds, but once a day it takes 10-15 minutes to finish the synch process despite me not changing any media. In the end the synch is successful.

I can't reproduce it at will, as most syncs  on a given day don't take long (even with lots of reviews and adding media from the PC-> server-> android ), and the 'finding changed media" message is displayed only for a brief second.

Great job guys, keep it up please!
Cheers,
Kuba

I am now having the same issue even when not full sync, just normal casual sync getting stuck on "finding changed media". Do not what the issue is.

The first time it happened I got impatient since I thought it froze - I then deleted my collection from the phone and imported it once again with a full sync. The problem persisted. In that case it clearly said that a full sync is in progress, and it gave me a progress bar. The whole process took much longer, too (about 40 minutes to download and then process) so I don't think that I get random full syncs

How many media files approx do you have?
Just trying to think of what might be causing it.

Hi,

I'm having long sync from time to time, also related to media files.

Maybe they should have some sort of special treatment for sync, taking advantage of not being usually modified.

Maybe you can upload or download based on a check sum (hash) of the file content, say using MD5 or SHA1 algorithm.

For instance, if I downloaded the public deck "Japanese core 2000...", I think sync should assure I only download it once, and upload only once or even never.

By not uploading never mean it can even reuse the file already in the server published by the poster of the public deck.

What do you think?

Regards, oscar

been getting this error on my new Galaxy Note 2. One in 2 or 3 syncs will result in stuck in "finding changed media" error.
