After 2.5 years of development, AnkiDroid 1.0 is out!
It is available in the Android Market right now (even for 1.5~1.6 devices).
Changes:
• two new themes
• animations
• backup system
• possibility to repair corrupted decks
• small widget
• intent-based card addition
• better card editor: lookup, add card, copy card, reset
• new statistic: deck summary
• optional wal journaling mode to speed things up
• optional sync=off mode to speed things up
• better progress bars while learning
• localised number appearance
• lookup dictionary now for every deck selectable
• card details now accessible via click on top bar
• option to fix screen orientation
• possibility to reset cards progress (in card editor)
• faster card browser searching
• more convenient lookup via appearing icon
• new text selection in card adder and card editor
• option to swap question/answer very easily
• support for line breaks in card editor and card browser
• hide AnkiDroid folder from Android's media scanner
• support for huge decks in card browser
• support for scrolling with hardware buttons
• new broadcasting system for showing upgrade messages
• support for new dictionaries: fora, nciku, eijiro
• a lot of bug fixes

I am checking the market on my phone right now can can't find the
first 3 lines you are talking about... it just says "Memorize anything
with AnkiDroid! AnkiDroid lets you ..." just like in
marketdescription.txt
Which are those 3 lines?

@Nicolas: in German, there is no promo text. Instead, the beginning of
the normal description is shown. Problably, if there is no promo text,
the first lines of the normal description are used? If yes, we could
just drop the promo text, the first description lines suit very
well...
