I've been using Ankidroid for about 2 years or so. I was only using the app and didn't download the Mac version until just now. I'm trying to sync my flashcards (I got a new phone and don't want to lose 2 years worth of flashcards!) but I keep having this problem.
When I try to sync from Andrioid-->Mac, I get a notification saying that my database is corrupt and I have to fix it before syncing.
Then when I try to use the feature on the app to fix the database, it says the database couldn't be opened because it's either not a real Anki database or has been corrupted.
I've upgraded to the latest version (2.3), but this hasn't fixed the problem. I've connected my phone to my computer and tried to import that way, but that also hasn't worked. I've also tried restoring from backup.
When I downloaded Ankidroid a few years ago, it was free. But I see now that it costs $25. Is that why I can't sync? Was the free version not able to sync with the other versions?
Please let me know if you can help, anyone! I have thousands of language flashcards and it's going to be impossible to just make new ones!

AnkiDroid is free, there is no paying version.
The 25$ app you have seen is probably the iPhone app "Anki Mobile", which is a compatible but different product.
More details at http://ankisrs.net/#ios

Sync is supposed to work everywhere, there is no version of AnkiDroid "without sync".

If I understand well, the sync from AnkiDroid to ankiweb.net did not work?

Thanks for using AnkiDroid!

I absolutely recommend you try to locate a backups folder with backups in it and copy that to some safe spot. These things get over-written over time, so in case any of them are valid, stash them safely.
