Below is my original message from the Anki Windows support forums. I have been referred here, as it appears to be a problem with Ankidroid creating a corrupt .apkg file.

Hi all, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I'm new to the anki support forums, so please forgive if there's anything I've missed / misconstrued / took for granted. That said, here's the problem I have:

The original deck I export is on my android phone. It is a pretty hefty deck of about 180 mb, pictures included. Without pictures, it is almost 2.00 mb in size (considerably smaller, what can I do, I am a visual guy!). Anyway, the export process goes without a hitch when I export the barebone pictureless deck, which in turn works flawlessly on the cpu, but I tried multiple times (and failed) to successfully export the full deck (with pics). It exports, I have the full .apkg file on my hdd, but anki fails to feed it into the program. It reports the following problem:

Import failed.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "aqt\importing.py", line 329, in importFile
File "anki\importing\apkg.py", line 30, in run

File "zipfile.py", line 859, in getinfo

You don't need to know rocket science to pin it down to the 'preparing to export' process on the phone, probably due to some long and weird picture filenames and/or the inability to export so many pics. I am curious if I can narrow down the problem to certain picture files so I can remove 'the bad apples' from the phone deck. As a side note, the android deck with pictures works flawlessly.
I could be wrong about all or any of this, and of course, and constructive help would be much appreciated!

Hi this forum is only for AnkiDroid, we're independent from the desktop version. Please post your question here:

Not sure whether I have been understood correctly or not, guess not. The windows guys and gals say it's an ankidroid problem. It fails to create a proper package file for export. It I tried importing the .apkg into another android phone, it would most likely fail, too. Guess the thread topic phrase wasn't the most convenient one I could've chosen...

Hmm OK can you please submit a bug report to github including all the steps someone would need to reproduce it?
It's slightly less likely to get lost there, though still no guarantee anybody will take a look at it.
