Dear developer,
I'm facing issue concerning SD card access using device mentioned in the subject of this email.
Every time I try to use a directory on my external SD card as AnkiDroid directory, AnkiDroid refuses the valid and writable path with this message:
"The path specified wasn’t a valid directory"
AnkiDroid is not the first app suffering from this problem, people on forums say that there was an API change concerning the access to SD card.
I'd like to know whether are you going to try to fix it and whether there is any way I can help you as a user.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there -
We don't officially support running AnkiDroid with support outside of
the directory it's configured to run in ('/sdcard/AnkiDroid' - which is
usually emulated and mostly internal storage on devices these days) so I
can't really say what's going on as we don't hear much about it.
I do run the "parallel builds" in order to have multiple profiles on my
device though, and I just tested the most recent set of them (one of the
alphas, you can see a link to them from the FAQ about profiles in
AnkiDroid) and it worked to set it to '/sdcard/AnkiDroid.CTest'
So setting arbitrary directories for AnkiDroid seems to work with
external storage access permitted, on my OnePlus 5 with Android 8.1
If they've changed an API I'm not aware of it but if you could send more
information, and some logcat info or an ACRA id or something we might be
able to help
