Is the Anki database encrypted when synchronising online?

It's not that I keep highly sensitive information in Anki Cards but over the years, using Anki extensively, bits and pieces of somewhat sensitive Info have been added such as MAC addresses and general Linux related info. Put it this way, I wouldn't feel comfortable if the whole thing would suddenly be in the wrong hands. What are the safeguards in Ankidroid when syncing data online?

The data is synced using HTTPS, therefore the data is encrypted while in transit.

This has been some case for a few years; before that HTTP was being used instead:

The data is also stored on the AnkiWeb servers. If you have questions about that, you should look at the AnkiWeb terms of use (https://ankiweb.net/account/terms) and ask questions on their support site (https://anki.tenderapp.com).
