Hello, I am having a big problem with the sibling spacing at the moment. In my Japanese deck with 20k cards (2 cards for esch note) I used to press 'good' for every card because I thought the SRS works best with this option. But that results in seeing card1 after, let's say 3 months, and it's sibling card2 just the next day. That destroys the whole SRS.

There are add ons ('Sibling spacing' and 'delay siblings') which work well on desktop, but it doesn't seem that they work on AnkiDroid.

So what can I do on Ankidroid to increase the spacing? I wish the developer would implement a setting to adjust the spacing interval. The default one day spacing is just killing the SRS.

Where can I submit this feature request?

Yeah I agree this is a bit of a problem... AnkiDroid does not support plugins so the best way is probably to enquire with Damien whether or not there are plans to support this in the mainline Anki Desktop (without using plugins).
The support site for Anki Desktop is here: https://anki.tenderapp.com/

If the issue gets resolved upstream in Anki Desktop it's much more likely to get a fix in AnkiDroid as well. He may also offer some workaround which I'd be interested in as well.

The scheduling does include a random element, and the expectation is that this will be enough to distribute cards more, even if you always give the same answer.

This didn't work too well for me, which is why I created the Sibling Spacing addon for the desktop version in the first place. Well, that was a long time ago.

With AnkiDroid what I do instead is keep filtered decks, so - I only study in one direction at a time. That way the sibling can't appear until I study the filtered deck with the reverse cards in it.

I actually like that better (studying one card type at a time) than having a mix of card types, and even if a sibling were to appear it's no longer that bad since they won't appear right beside each other, only when you switch decks.

Maybe that would work for you too... otherwise if you must have this feature in AnkiDroid version, only thing to do is dive into the very fine source code. ;)

As far as I know, the notes are assigned a number that denotes its
appearance order.
You can see it on Anki Desktop's Card Browser.
The siblings will have the same number, and then they will be
introduced very close to each other, but not on the same day.

I also had some problem with that, and the workaround I found was to
reposition the new cards.
On Anki desktop, it is in Card Browser > Select the cards > Edit >
Reposition (you need to select which cards you want to reposition
before).
I usually pressed C-a C-S-s to select all and open the reposition menu.
After that, I could see that a different number was assigned and I
could also noticed that I was not seeing the other siblings when I was
studying.

On ankidroid it is also possible to do it.
Open a deck, select Deck Options (top right corner) > New cards > Order
Here I need to change it to "Date added", and then back to random order.
However, it takes some time to reorder the cards.

I have around 20k cards (but only 3k new cards), and I guess it take
one minute for each reordering.
This is probably a problem with ankidroid (or maybe my old phone), as
it is done instantly on the desktop version.

Hi, thanks for your reply! Yes, your add-on works great on desktop. But since I only use AnkiDroid for reviews I can't benefit from it's function there.

Filtered decks are a good idea but I prefer having a mix of cards in both directions during one session.

For now I'm trying to avoid too close siblings in the future by making more use of the "hard" and "easy" buttons instead of just going with "good" ;-)

Interesting! And how would repositioning work when I use my cards by default in the order added? Switching to random and then back to "date added" wouldn't change the sibling order, would it?
