I just picked up my droid phone and installed ankidroid. I copied a
few test decks down to the usb folder and can open the decks in
ankidroid but no images get displayed. does ankidroid support image
display (jpg) or is there something specific that needs to be done to
get them to show up?

Thanks!

Hi Michael,

I have not tested, but according to the bug tracker Edu implemented
support so it should be available in the next release. You can follow
the evolution of this issue here:
http://code.google.com/p/ankidroid/issues/detail?id=4

Edu, the issue is still in status "Open", is it normal?
I think that adding new images facts should be filled as a different
issue, and this issue renamed "Reviewing facts that include images" or
something.
What do you think?

Good reviews!
Nicolas.

Hey Michael,

Yes, Nicolas is right. If you want to have image support it is implemented for the next release, but you can try it right now downloading the experimental apk we have on http://code.google.com/p/ankidroid/downloads/list.
It should support without any problem jpg, gif, png and bmp (like is specified on the Android Documentation:  http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html).

And Michael, if something is not working like you expected just let me know and I'll try to fix it as soon as possible.

Nicolas, I'll close it right now, I also think adding images it's a totally different issue. The only reason I left it open it is to let users of Ankidroid v3.0 see that this issue was reported and was being taken care of. I should define and write a document to let users what functionalities are already implemented and what are we doing right now.

Cheers,

   Edu Zamora.

I use 'FixedInDev' on the anki issue tracker to let people know a fix exists.

Thanks Nicolas, Edu

Ah that's great, I would be more than happy to test out the latest
version. Although I'm not sure how to actually get it on my droid -
can someone point me to some documentation that explains how to get
apps still in development uploaded?

Regards,

Michael

Ok, I'll tell you one of the easy ways:

- Put the experimental .apk on the sdcard in your phone
- Activate the option "Unknown sources", under Settings -> Applications
- Download from Android Market the application "ASTRO File Manager" (just look for "Astro")
- Open Astro and look for the file you have just copied on your sdcard
- Click it, open App Manager and install

And you are ready to enjoy Ankidroid!

If you have any problem with that, just let me know Michael.

(I really have to remember to put all this on the wiki sometime)

Regards,

    Edu Zamora
