Hi all,

I've released an open-source Anki sync server called anki-cloud. It's built as a drop-in replacement for AnkiWeb and is fully compatible with AnkiDroid — just set a custom sync server URL in AnkiDroid's advanced settings.

Key details:
- Uses Google Drive as the storage backend — decks stay in your own account
- Works with AnkiDroid, AnkiMobile, and Anki Desktop via the standard sync protocol
- Also includes a REST API and MCP server for programmatic/AI access
- Self-hostable via Docker; AGPLv3 and ELv2 licenses

For AnkiDroid users specifically: if you've hit AnkiWeb rate limits, sync timeouts, or just want your data in your own Drive, this should work as a straightforward alternative.

Happy to answer questions — especially interested in feedback from AnkiDroid users on sync behaviour.
