I have been using both Ankidroid and Duolingo and I like them both.

I think an advantage with Duolingo is that they have made it fun/addictive to study with it. The advantage with ankidroid is flexibility of what you learn and ability to create your own flashcards.

Examples:
When you answer a question correctly in Duolingo an animated figure looks very happy about it.
When you answer 5 questions in a row correctly Duolingo congratulates you on that.
There is a Duolingo leaderboard where you can compare your progress with other people.

Another thing is:
As time goes on, there are more and more cards to revise in ankidroid decks. It would be helpful if the number of new cards was gradually reduced as the number of cards you need to revise goes up.

Hi there -

With apologies, we have enough to do just keeping up with what think of as "Anki Core", that is, what Anki Desktop implements, and we don't have spare resources for gamification or scheduler mods etc.

You may be interested in the Anki Desktop experience with add-ons there. I know they have some load-smoothing ones, and maybe they have some gamification things.

We'll stay focused on the Anki core experience and just making sure everything works here in AnkiDroid-land

Cheers -

-Mike
