clearing/deleting all empty cards at once, instead of individually

So when I first created a deck, I used way too many close deletions. In hindsight, that many cloze deletions were giving too many " hints" as to what the answers were. So I went to the anki browser on desktop and manually edited the cards to have far fewer cloze deletions. As a result, anki thinks that there are still the same number of cards as there were originally,

Example: there's a note with 9 cloze deletions. I decide that's too many and edit the card to make 3 cloze deletions, anki browser still lists that there are 9 cards for that note, and therefore when I go to study the deck, these cards that no longer exist show up as a blank white screen

I've been manually suspending each card, but is there anyway to get rid of them all at once without affecting the cards with actual content in them?
Thanks

Tim

I'm not sure, but have you tried tools->check database in Desktop client?
