Hi everybody, today i have found an interesting application on Android, with a feature i really want to see with Anki !

check by yourself, it use the lockscreen and you have to answer a question (typically like an Anki card) to unlock your phone.

Website : http://www.unlockyourbrain.com/en/

Hope a similar feature could be add to Anki application !

Sincerally,

Hugo, user of Anki since 2009

That means anyone can unlock your phone. And also there are many more important issues to worry about.

The worst thing is that after several answers the app thinks you fixed the vocabulary enough and starts to show you a screen with recommendation to download different packs and that is a bit of annoying because instead of learning you just swipe to unlock

I also don't know if they provide an API for other applications to supply questions at all.

Such a system could be useful for a person who:
- is 100% sure nobody else will touch their phone
- and has a tendency to check their phone too often (instead of doing math drills for instance)
If such a person has to answer 10 questions before unlock, they would sure check their phone less often, and probably also do more reviews.

I think that similar concepts also have some potential:
- Review cards to snooze (or switch off) the alarm clock
- Review before launching any game or social app
- Review before connecting to any leisure website

It is not for everyone, though. People who are susceptible to swiping without looking will not benefit from such an app.

Such an app would need an API that AnkiDroid can connect to.

Cheers!

I wouldn't be in favor of adding such a feature to AnkiDroid itself, but you can suggest to the other app that they add support for AnkiDroid by using our public API.
There's already another app that uses our API to allow you to review cards on your Android smart watch, so it should work in theory.

Sorry I just remembered that the scheduling API is not documented yet, it requires using the provider which is a fair amount of work, but the AnkiDroid wear app is a good example on how to use it:

This is really useful information, hopefully someone that know JavaScript/C language could do the same with Pebble smartwatch.
