Hello

I’ve edited some decks on my android device. But the original deck file “apkg” has remained unchanged. I want to share the edited version of decks with my friends who run Anki on Windows/Android. How should it be done? Is there any way to integrate the modifications into the apkg file?

Thanks for your great program and for your response

Hello,

The apkg file cannot be modified: when it is imported a different file is created (a collection.anki2 file) and that is used to store and update your deck. The apkg file is not meant to be modified and it is supposed to be used only for moving your decks from one device to another.

Currently the Android version of Anki does not support exporting to apkg format, so you cannot directly create an apkg file using AnkiDroid.

You have two possible options:
- sync your deck from AnkiDroid to the web (AnkiWeb) and then from there to a desktop computer: the desktop version of Anki has an option to export to apkg format, and you can then share that file with someone else.
- close AnkiDroid and then try to copy the collections (the collection.anki2 file and the corresponding collection.media) to a desktop computer and either share that directly or export to apkg using a desktop version of Anki. NOTE: this second option is not explicitly supported, but people have been able to use it to copy files from their Android device to the desktop: https://code.google.com/p/ankidroid/wiki/FAQ#How_can_I_copy_cards_from_AnkiDroid_to_my_PC_without_using_sync?
