Hello,

I've been trying to import my deck from desktop to ankidroid, however I keep getting the message "no importable file" if I try to go into ankidroid and click import. I have copied my .apkg file into sdcard/ankidroid already. I also cannot seem to email myself the .apkg file and open it on my phone. It tells me that there is no app capable of opening the file. I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks so much!

Hi, I want to follow up on this. I recently tried airdroid and I was able to open the .apkg file with ankidroid. However, ankidroid still won't display all my decks. it will will only display one deck labelled "default" rather than the decks I would usually be able to see (Spanish, Russian, etc.) When I go into statistics, I can see that there are thousands of notes, so the data has been imported, however Ankidroid is not recognizing or separating them into the usual decks on the main screen. Thanks again for your help!

Did you change your AnkiDroid directory (Settings -> Advanced -> AnkiDroid directory) or can verify that it's pointing at the right location? What happens when you open the card browser, can you see all your cards there?

Hi Eginhard,

When I go into the ankidroid directory I see /sdcard/AnkiDroid. Isn't that how it should be? What would I change it to?

When I open the card browser, I only see one deck called "default." When I try to study in that deck, I see that it has notes from all of my decks mixed together. Also, when I look in statistics I see data on thousands of cards, so I believe that all my notes are in andkidroid now, simply not separated into separate decks.

I thought maybe I could solve this problem by syncing, but ankidroid keeps telling me that I have to sign into ankiweb before I can sync. I follow the link and sign into ankiweb, I see all my decks there, but then I still can't seem to go back to ankidroid and sync. It just keeps telling me to sign in. What do you think I am doing wrong? This all worked fine last time I put my decks on an android....

Thanks so much for your help.

If you see all your decks on AnkiWeb, you can get them into AnkiDroid this way:
1. Log into the account from the AnkiDroid app via 'Settings -> AnkiDroid -> AnkiWeb account'.
2. Activate 'Settings -> Advanced -> Force full sync'. Now, when you click on the sync icon in AnkiDroid, you'll be asked to download or upload the full collection. Choose downloading from the server. This will overwrite everything you have in AnkiDroid with the decks you see in AnkiWeb. You should therefore have the decks separately this way.

After that, you can just sync before and after you study on AnkiDroid and Anki Desktop and only the small differences since the last sync need to be transferred.

What is the exact message? Can you write it out or post a screenshot?

In the past, you had to accept changes to the terms of service before you could continue syncing which you could only do by signing into AnkiWeb. This is the only reason for that message that I'm aware of.

Also, about the importing problem: you are trying to import an entire collection (collection.apkg), right? If so, that is a known issue which has been fixed but not released yet.

Yes, I am trying to import an entire collection and the decks within the collection have been shuffled together. What should I do?

Thanks for your help!

You can install the latest build which contains the fix. I am more interested in why your sync isn't working, though.

Yes, that is really confusing. It tells me to sign into Ankiweb with a third party account. Am I supposed to create a brand new account even though I already have my own account in Ankiweb?

That is the standard dialog that appears when you are not logged in and try to sync. The window that opens up after it lets you either log in or create an account. Can you explain the exact steps you take after this dialog shows up?
