recently I flashed my phone to android 6 and reinstalled ankidroid. the problem accord with cards containing video with mp4 formats that I didn't have problem before. there is no problem with mp3 and images, and even with avi video clips. but only mp4.
now the question is: do I need to download codecs or something like that?
can I change ankidroid's default player?
I'm so frustrated and tired because it's one week that I'm searching but I can't find any soloution on this issue. please help me I have 2000 cards and it has taken me too much time.

No, that won't help.

can I change ankidroid's default player?
Currently not, AnkiDroid uses the default system player, though there is a feature request for this.

phone model: sony m4 aqua
the media is playing correctly on Anki Desktop but not on AnkiDroid and the media files exist in my AnkiDroid/collection.media and I see the triangle mark in my card.
I test it with another phone with android 6.0 and there was no problem but in my phone with android 6.0.1 the problem exists.
do I need to downgrade to android 5?
help please

Did you verify that the files are there in your collection.media folder, as was written in the FAQ? Can you take a screenshot of this?

What codec are the mp4 files using? mp4 is just a container, and Android only supports mp4 files using either the H.263, H.264 AVC, or H.265 HEVC codec.
If avi files are working OK then you probably need to transcode the files to one of the above if you want to use it in AnkiDroid.

thank you Tim for your reply. I use pot player's video recorder and cut very short clips, as you said I tested other codecs with mp4 formats like h264 and mpeg1, mpeg2, mpeg3... but none of them worked. so I'm going to downgrade from android 6.0.1 to android 5 because the problem started since I have updated my android system. and I'm surprised no body made issue about this problem. maybe the phone model causes this problem.

I have 1 request. could you developers test a card sample containing a clip with mp4 format on android 6.0.1 and tell me about the result? thank you.

I don't have Android 6.0.1... Only 7.1.1
If you send me an apkg containing a flashcard with an h264 encoded mp4 then I can check that on my device.

I doubt it's a problem with your operating system version.

in general these files only have audio in default player, but mx player can open smoothly without any problem (mp4 format with mpeg 4 codec)
default player can open only those mp4 formats that have h264 codec. but non of them can open in ankidroid.
