I've been using a Mac laptop for the past couple of years.  I'm considering buying a new chromebook.  The only thing stopping me is the possibility that I won't have a fully functioning Anki product on a chromebook.  I've read that Ankidroid should work well on a chromebook but I'm worried that I'll have reduced functionality compared to full Anki on a Mac.  Can anyone on this forum talk about experience using Ankidroid on a chromebook?  Can you add photos, create new cards, and do everything else you could do with Anki for Mac?  Thanks for any information...

Hello Joshua,

AnkiDroid does not work on Chromebooks and there is no plan to make it work.

Chromebooks use a different technology from Android and the two would have to have completely independent versions.
It is however possible to use AnkiWeb on a Chromebook as you can today in your Mac laptop web browser.

All you need to do is visit https://www.ankiweb.net: indeed this has limited functionality when compared to the desktop
version, but you can try it out before making the switch and see if AnkiWeb would work for you.

For further questions about AnkiWeb, you can also reach out to the support for Anki at http://www.ankisrs.net.

Best regards,
Flavio

Just FYI:  "A recent study by the NPD Group  says that the Chromebook platform has reached 9.6% share in North American business and institutions,  and 21% of the associated notebook sales market. "
