Hi all,

It looks like Google wants an Ankiweb login to check the app.
Is there a test login/password we can provide?
Feel free to reply to me in private if necessary.
Or Mike feel free to handle the matter if you prefer :-)

Cheers!
Nicolas Raoul

Hi,

I just created an account specifically for them. playstore...@gmail.com
They should be able to sync. Not that it will be really useful if they try to sync an app without content on ankiweb and on device

Yeah, we're hooked up correctly with regard to developer notices etc - I got this email this morning as well

I replied to them asserting that they really should not need them, since it is only for sync and you may freely create accounts. However, if that is not adequate for them for whatever reason (I will wait for their reply) then I will provide them with some test credentials sure, I do have other apps where it is necessary but seems like for AnkiDroid it shouldn't be? We'll see

Thanks Nicolas!

Haha I should check all my email first, seeing these in chronological order. At any rate I still assert they don't need them. I worry those credentials will expire in 3 months per AnkiWeb policy and we'll be back in this position if they continue to assert they do need them, so we'll then need some sort of "account keep alive" infrastructure like a github workflow on a timer that logs in every once in a while (and also verifies email every once in a while per Ankiweb policy? ugh)

I'm curious for their response(s)

Right now, this addresses redirect all emails to me.
I don't want to redirect to this mailing list, because otherwise any people having access to the archive can get an email to change the password. Ideally, we'd need an email only for ankidroid admin. I don't think we have one.

According to ankiweb terms, you can wait 6 months between loggins https://ankiweb.net/account/terms. I guess that just having an email every 5 months asking someone to log-in manually will be enough. After all, if one create a github action that logs on ankiweb and that in less than 5 years the log-in process change (which seems realistic), the system will have ran 10 times. Login manually 10 times seems a far smaller cost in admin/developer time

I'd like to note that if you have not synced, you get a red button inviting you to sync. So it would be true to note that sync is strongly recommended, even if it is not mandatory.

I've look at play warning. I've also filled the app-content question. Long story short, email is saved to log-in. All data can be deleted. We use an unique id to identify the app for analytic purpose. File, image, music and video can be used and shared with ankiweb, but everything is optional and it's used for feature.

Regards,
Arthur
