export the file to apkg from Anki Desktop, then copy the apkg file to your AnkiDroid folder on your device, and choose import cards from the main menu

Is there a simple way to transfer a deck I have created on the computer to my android device? Preferably without syncing. I just want to move the files over once they are created. Any help greatly appreciated.

Another way is to upload the collection.apkg file to dropbox (and also have the dropbox app on your phone), then click on the file from the dropbox app on your phone. It will directly open AnkiDroid and ask you to import the decks.

Thanks for the tip givenchy.val!

To anyone using Dropbox, please understand the warnings at https://code.google.com/p/ankidroid/wiki/FAQ?#How_can_I_copy_cards_from_AnkiDroid_to_my_PC_without_using_sync?
Dropbox only replaces steps 2 and 3.
So please follow steps 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 scrupulously.

Cheers!
