I am studying kanjis with a deck including the 2200 from Heisig.
With 400+ left ( new) I have set the limit for new cards per day to 1000.
In the last 2 days I end the day with a certain number of new cards, let's say N, the day after I find that the new cards are N+M, with M = s small number, like 10, or 5. Today I find 255 new cards, yesterday  it was 250.

To me this seems not normal. Is it? If yes what would be the explanation?

Hi do you observe the same thing in Anki Desktop? If not, could you show a screenshot?

Now that I think about it: maybe useful to add that every day I bury and mark many cards, most of them I edit,
the number of these probably is the same order of magnitude of the increase I have noticed.

I will try to check anki Desktop and save screens daily

I've seen this and so has my mom. I'm thinking it's related to siblings, but perhaps not.

It's pretty innocuous in the grand scheme, I'd say.

Yes, it is related to sibling, I had this issue with Anki and asked Damien to separate the buried cards from the suspended cards in the pie chart, and of course, he's too "busy" to fix it.

OP, this happens when the sibling gets automatically buried, and automatically unburied the next day. When a new card is buried, it is counted as suspended and not new.

Do you have two or more card types for your heisig kanji notes? If not, I've no idea.

Also, Anki/AnkiDroid does not different the automatically buried sibling cards and those that you buried. Which makes bury function quite useless, eg, when you see a card on AnkiDroid that you want to fix up later on computer, you can not bury because when you unburied the deck later on, it will unburied this cards and all the other automatically buried sibling cards. You see the defect here?

Then again, Anki developers are never power users so don't expect too much from them.

Xiao, for cards you want to fix up later on computer, the appropriate tool is marking the card, I think.

You are a power user who could become a developer :-)

Cheers!

I know the marking the card is suppose to serve this function, but it also forces the user to pick an answer in order to move on, I'm not comfortable determining a good/again answer without further research on a questionable note. Therefore I prefer to use bury, which served as a card deferment before the introduction of automatic sibling burying. Remember back in the days, sibling cards with effected by a multiplier and not auto burying?

Regardless what I use bury for, auto sibling burying has ruined the original purpose of burying, regardless what the function marking the card or other function that might exist.
