How to import .anki file in ankidroid?

After unzipping this file http://www.ezchinesey.com/stuff/EZCSimplified.anki.zip, I put the file EZCSimplified.anki (linux command "file" told it is a SQLite 3.x database) in

/storage/emulated/0/AnkiDroid and tried to import it with "Import  cards" in ankidroid without success (No importable file found).

Is this type of file importable in ankidroid possible? How should I proceed?

Hello Dan,

Anki uses a different format, apkg, for importing and exporting decks.

You can generate an apkg file from your decks using the desktop client.

I think the deck you have downloaded is for an older version of Anki,

version 1, which is not compatible with the current version of Anki,

version 2.

The desktop app should be able to import it (I was able to do so just

now).

After that you can either exporting it as an apkg file or sync to your

android device.

Hi Flavio,

I installed anki on my desktop (ubuntu) (before this "need", I was only using anki on my phone), imported the .anki from the desktop and after, sync to the web and to my phone.

It was a success. Thanks for your instructions.

I know this is an old post...but hopefully someone is still watching :)

I recently bought the new version of Alan Hoenig's Learn & Remember 2,178 Characters book.  I'd like to use the Anki deck, but the http://www.ezchinesey.com website is no longer functioning.  Would someone who already downloaded the Anki deck mind sharing it?

I have just bought the book and really love the method he expounded to make memorizing chinese character more fun to do. I haven't been able to access it as well. Did you finally manage to get the flashcard? Do you mindsharing it?
