Dear all,
I am trying to make flashcard for studying Japanese Kanji (the characters borrowed from Chinese used to write Japanese), specifically how to write them correctly from memory. I came across a deck created by Shvelen on the WaniKani website:
https://community.wanikani.com/t/version-105-2016-01-31-anki-deck-for-kanji-writing-practice/11840/47This deck largely does what I want, but is tailored to the WaniKani website in terms of how Kanji are presented rather than "Remembering the Kanji" which is my preferred resource. So I thought I would try to modify Shvelen's card layout and style to suit my needs. I've attached an example deck with my version of the styling containing two cards.
My problem is that I can't get AnkiDroid to display Kanji in the font that I want even though everything works perfectly on the Linux version of Anki. I followed the instructions in the manual for installing fonts:
https://apps.ankiweb.net/docs/manual.html#installing-fontsThis works on Android for certain .ttf fonts but not the one which I am trying to use (e.g. the KanjiStrokeOrder font included in Shvelen's deck). Is there a way to access AnkiDroid error logs to see why it isn't loading the font?
The font I want to use writes Kanji as they should be written, when writing them by hand as opposed to how they appear in print. However, when I look at my cards in AnkiDroid, they appear using a print font (probably the Android default).
I've checked that after synchronising with AnkiWeb that the "collection.media" directory on my Android phone does indeed contain the font and the html/css code for the flashcards is also correct.
Here is a screenshot of how the card looks displaying the font that I want on my Linux computer:
and here is a screenshot of what I get on AnkiDroid:
My specs are:
Phone: Nexus 6P, Android 8.1.0, AnkiDroid 2.8.3
Computer: OpenSUSE Leap 42.2, Anki 2.0.47
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Best,
Simon
