Feature Requests: Enhanced Hierarchical Tags & Card Interlinking

Dear AnkiDroid Development Team,

First of all, thank you for developing and maintaining such an outstanding application. Anki has been an invaluable learning tool for me over the years, especially in medical education.

I would like to suggest two features that I believe would greatly improve knowledge organization and lifelong learning.

1. Enhanced Hierarchical Tag Browser

Although Anki already supports hierarchical tags using the :: syntax, it would be wonderful to have a more intuitive folder-style tag browser with easy collapsing, expanding, filtering, and navigation.

For example:

Anatomy
 └── Histology
      └── Skin
           └── Epidermis

Anatomy
 └── Neurology
      └── Cranial Nerves
           └── Glossopharyngeal Nerve

Pharmacology
 └── Endocrine
      └── Diabetes
           └── Oral Hypoglycemic Agents
                └── Metformin

This would make it much easier to organize and browse thousands of concept tags as users build large knowledge bases.

2. Internal Card Interlinking (Knowledge Graph)

It would be incredibly useful to allow links between concepts across different cards, decks, or subdecks.

For example, if a card contains the word Metformin, Glossopharyngeal Nerve, or Diabetes, that text could be clickable. Selecting it would open the corresponding card or note containing that concept, even if it is stored in another deck or subdeck.

This would work similarly to hyperlinks in mind-mapping software, allowing users to navigate naturally between related concepts and build a connected knowledge network rather than isolated flashcards.

Such a feature would be especially valuable in fields like medicine, where concepts from anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine are closely interconnected.

These enhancements would transform Anki from an excellent spaced-repetition system into an even more powerful lifelong knowledge management and learning platform.
