I have an Honor 5C device with Android version 7.0. AnkiDroid was working well for a long time. All of a sudden I get the error "AnkiDroid directory is inaccessible" everytime I launch the app. (screenshot attached)
I tried re-entering the path sdcard/AnkiDroid but I got another error saying "The path specified isn't a valid directory".
I've checked my sdcard - the path is valid. It has my backup files and the files used for the flashcards.
I'm not sure how to fix this error - please help!

You're using an external SD card? This isn't officially supported by us.
If you can't figure it out, uninstalling / reinstalling the app should reset the path to the default one which should work.

This didn't work for me. I use my SD card as my primary storage. Do I need to change my save path on my phone for everything so it doesn't default to the SD card? It was working fine for almost a year and then the problem started.

In Ankdroid settings -> advanced, you can change the AnkiDroid directory if you need to use a non-default location.

I happen to have a similar problem.
I made a factory reset of my Phone (HTC E8) and installed AnkiDroid.
Anyhow, it doesn't even manage to start properly, shouting that "AnkiDroid directory is inaccessible"
Then, I tried to change the folder, but whatever destination I tap in, I get the message ""the path specified wasn't a valid directory".
Basically, I cannot use the app at all after resetting the phone (I resetted again, once from the option, once from twrp, still the same problem.
What can I do...? Learning backlog gets generated for another day now... :'(

Thank you for including this information in the related issue on github
- I've provided some suggestions there.

I still can't reproduce this unfortunately so I haven't been able to
figure out what's happening

Until we can get your device working again I can mention that AnkiWeb
does allow for reviews via a web interface. This is obviously far from
optimal but may help at least with the backlog until your device is
sorted out

I have the same issue. What path could I try that's working?
As long as the broken SD card path is displayed, I am stuck in preferences hell and can not get out of the menu. Even closing the app doesn't work. I have to delte data and cache to be able to use the app again. But this way I'm not able to benefit from the preferences, for example text to speech.

Hi Guys!!

I HAVE THE RIGHT SOLUTION FOR EVERYBODY :D

you just have to rewrite the directory in the settings and give it the "right path". now how do you get the right path for AnkiDroid's folder?

easy:
1) open any file manager app on your phone (in my case, ES explorer)
2) the find the AnkiDroid's main folder (again in my case: "/storage/2AB8-9A04/AnkiDroid"). note that "2AB8-9A04" was the name of my memory card, so yours might be different.
3) once you found the folder, just tap on the folder's properties and then see the folder's path.
4) adjust the directory in the setting with the new path you saw on step 3, apply and reopen the app.

remember, the android version or the phone's model makes no difference. you can fix your "directory inaccessible" problem/error with the 4 steps mentioned above.

hope that helps!
