delete picture of a deck

Hi!
I have several decks for which I don't need the pictures (I want to keep the audio though).
Should delete the picture field in the card type? Or should I just delete the pictures themselves in the anki folder (but then they would appear again when synchronizing? and how do I recognize the picture for this deck since all pictures from all decks are in the same folder?)
What is the safest option? Is there another way to do it?
I am weary because I have a shared deck where half of the information of the card (conjugation chart) just disappeared when I edited it to correct a spelling mistake in another field...

Deleting the picture field will be the easiest way if you don't need pictures on any notes of that type. You can do this in AnkiDroid, but you then need to run "Check Media" in Anki Desktop to delete the now unused media files. You can backup you deck/collection before doing this, so that you can just restore it if you run into any problems.
