Swiping to next card

I just downloaded AnkiDroid and am completely stumped about its operation.  I've loaded several decks, but only the first card is accessible.   I've waited several minutes, but the card does not change.  I've tried various swipes.  I've gone into perferences and activated the Gestures button.  But nothing works.

I've listened to the Youtube video, and read the manual, but nowhere can I find out how to change from one card to the next.   

Since most people on this forum seem to be actively using the app, I'd be interested in any insights they might give me on actually moving from one card to the next.  For right now, the only card I can access is the first one in each deck.

(BTW I am using the Random Levantine Arabic decks on a Samsung S21 phone)

Hi, basically you need to answer the current card first to see the next card.
