Please help, all of my cards are gone!

Hi! I made a huge mistake on my HTC One and in the process of attempting to make more space on my phone, I accidentally deleted all of my Ankidroid card files!!  I didn't realize I could also make a desktop copy so unfortunately, that's not an option to help restore them.  I'm wondering if there are 3rd party apps to help restore my cards if there is no other way to do so within Ankidroid??  Thanks!!!!

There are automatic backups stored on your device, but it sounds like you might have deleted the whole AnkiDroid folder (which contains the backups). Anyway it's worth a try.

If that doesn't work, and you have never synced with AnkiWeb, and you have never done any backups then unfortunately there's nothing we can do sorry.

Okay, yeah. The backups did nothing. In my phone's file manager, I found collection.anki2-shm (32 kb) and collection.anki2 (64kb). Are these anything promising?

First, make backups of these two files preciously somewhere.

Did you use sync? If yes, your information should be at AnkiWeb.

If not, your images etc might be lost, but at least collection.anki2 might contain the text of the questions/answers, so try opening it with Anki Desktop.
