Seeing that there is no page for the dark skill tree, I am making this guide to make it easier for people to understand how the skill tree works, along with some tips as to how to invest in it to get the most out of the admittedly rather limited skill points you have for it.

-Natural Proficiency: Gives a "free" skill point to invest in the normal tree, and takes two out of 4 said nodes. However, much like a deal with the devil, this talent is a newbie trap that will waste the single dark skill tree point you will get on your first playthrough. This becomes useless the moment you become level 290 and gain all the skill tree points you can spend, while also not giving you anything that you cannot get from the normal skill tree. Avoid at all costs in the first playthrough.

-Magic Barrier: Gives 1 Armor, 1 defense and 1 Magic. Most people will not invest in this on their first run due to its modest offers and fixed stats instead of the "free to spend as you need" skill point, but it's actually somewhat better than the skill point as it essentialy gives you 2 free levels and saves you hours from grinding for a magic level in the endgame. Still, not worth it for your first playthrough.

-Ferocious Hunger: Reduces consumable cooldown time by 30%, meaning that you can heal and regen mana through items 30% faster. By far the best talent to invest in the skill tree on your first run and every run afterwards, as it might seem modest but it can be a huge lifesaver in bossfights. If you have the autoconsumable funtion through the fairies, this becomes even better.

-Greedy Alchemy: Gives 20 extra Mana Points and a 40% bonus to gold dropped by enemies. Decent bonus in general, makes it possible to use Thunder Bolt from level 50 without investing in mana points and a lot easier to buy items and training from the trainer, significantly speeding up your growth.

-Corrupted Gift: Gives three levels in Magic and 0.01 mana regen per mana point you have. Very good talent to invest in if you care for magic as it significantly speeds up the magic level increase through easier spell usage, and makes it possible to cast mana consuming spells without running out of mana. At max level (3000), you get 4334 mana total, which means that you will get a 43.34 mana regen per second from this gift. However, with the mana regen points in the skill tree and Tree of Consciousness, you will actaully get 90 points in mana regen per second.

-Arcanic Taboo: Reduces the spell casts required to master a spell by half and reduces the amount of enemies required to kill to proceed to the nest tile. This talent is very good for those who want to blitz through the game on later playthrough cycles, but it's better left for your 3rd or even better 4rth playthrough and after because while it saves you a lot of time, what you will be lacking in the first three playthroughs is the strength required to clear the areas, meaning this skill will simply irritate you on the first three cycles as it simply gets you faster to harder areas that you cannot clear since you lack power.

-Dark Vigor: Gives 0.1 Health Point regen and power equal to the square root of unused skill points. This talent, like Corrupted Gift, shines the most at the highest level possible. At level 3000 you should have 2710 unsoent skill points, excluding fairy and dark skill tree given skill points. The square root of that is 52. With this any spell you have will deal thousands of damage, and Thunderbolt will be able to insta-kill most enemies in the game, excluding a few boss type monsters. However, due to the fact that it doesn't do anything until you get to level 291 unless you plan to do a level 1 run, I'd not really recommend this until 6 or 7 cycles in, and then only for extreme glass cannon builds.

-Golden Horseshoe: Gives 15% drop chance to every drop. Sounds good on paper, but it appears to be a multiplicative increase instead of a flat additive one. Needs more testing, not really recommended until at least 3 to 4 cycles in.

-Triple Talent: Gives 3 levels in Combat, Ranged and Magic. Not bad, very good for an early boost and gives you essentialy 9 levels worth of skill tree points invested in said talents. Not bad at all, just lackluster when compared to balance breaking talents present n the skill tree. If you don't care for magic that much, this might be helpful.

-Treasure Hunter: Gives a 30% extra chance for the rarest drop an enemy has. Like with Golden Horseshoe, it's multiplicative and actually needs aforementioned talent to function at its best.

-Master Bloodline: Gives 1 point in Critical Chance, Crit Master and removes the level 50 restriction it has for weapon level. Good on paper and it can be a newbie clutch on the second cycle, however the crit damage coefficient and chance you have at the start of the game alongside with your normal damage make it a hit or miss early on and obsolette mid to late game.

-Sneaky Learning: By FAR the absolute best talent on the dark skill tree. Gives the training fairy bonus for free and stacks with it if you have it, giving up to 3 times level growth in Combat, Ranged but most important of all, magic. This talent also makes the Master Bloodline restriction removal useless as you can easily reach level 50 on both ranged and combat withing two days if you have this and the fairy trainer bonus and focus on attack speed stats early on.

-Fast and Furious: Reduces Attack Charge time by 30% and gives 0.2 speed. Very good talent for those who want a more physical approach, essentialy saves you about 6 levels of small attack charge skill nodes in investment at game start and reduces the minimum attack charge time from 0,03 to 0,02. Synergises extremely well with Sneaky Learning.

-Assassin's Instict: Gives 2 points in Critical Chance and 0,1 in Critical Multiplier. Basically 5 free levels in said stats, a little more if you count the skills for each stat on the normal skill tree.

-Counter Attack: Gives 3 levels in Combat and reduces the attack charge time by 50% for 8 seconds after you block a hit successfully with a shield. If you have 0,02 in Attack Charge, you basically become Sensei for 8 seconds after a successful block. This is on its absolute best against Sensei as you can spam the naturally stacking blocks and keep the buff at all times during the fight, making you both look like this Part 1: Jotaro vs Dio (The World vs Star Platinum) [ Bluray 60FPS ] (youtube.com) depending on your Combat level.

-Brilliant Speller: Reduces Cooldown for spells by 20%. Synergises extremely well with Arcanic Taboo to unlock the spells' full potential and with Sneaky Learning to increase your magic level. Every spell benefits from this, however power blast can be a pain in the rump to manage since the cooldown will be too low to keep up with mana regen until you reach at least level 300 with the Corrupted Gift learned.

-Proficiency Connector: Connect any two skill nodes in the skill tree one time. About this one... I don't know. I haven't unlocked this talent yet so I cannot explain this and how this works, so I will have to wait until my next playthrough to try this out and see.

1) As a bow focused build you will need Ferocious Hunger, 1 Natural Proficiency, Sneaky Learning, Sticky Hands, Born to Shoot, Assassin's Insticts, Golden Horseshoe, Triple Talent, Master Bloodline, Magic Barrier and Dark Vigor.

This build will give you: 30% less consumables cooldown, 1 skill point, +1 learning, 20% chance to save ammo, 6 levels in Ranged and 10% bonus in Distance, 3 extra critical chance and 0,1 extra critical damage multipler, 1 Armor and Defense, 4 levels in Magic, 0,1 health regeneration and extra power scaling with your unused skill points, making easier farming inn late areas after you fully inlock the skill tree.

2) As a shielder build you will need the same talents as the bow build, but instead of Sticky Hands and Born to Shoot, you will need Always Ready and Counter attack. This gives the same bonuses in general except you start the fight with extra defense due to Always Ready synergising with One Step Ahead, 6 combat and the attack charge time going down to 0,01 when you block successfully.

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I call this a purely magical build but at least until level 150 you will need to carry a weapon with you to deal damage. After that you can ditch weapons and just use a shield for blocking and armor to withstand damage while plting the enemy with spells, especially Power Blast.
