Also within this tutorial is a free traceable of the bird silhouette that you can just trace onto the canvas! No drawing skills (and no prior painting skills for that matter) are required to do this painting. Simply print and use graphite paper or another method of tracing it onto the canvas.

Keep applying this technique all the way up the canvas. Remember, light in the middle and darker on the sides. You may re-load your brush in medium magenta and quinacridone magenta. You can also add more white if you feel the painting needs more white in some places.

As you fill up the canvas, take a step back and look at your background. If you feel like adding more of a certain color, you can do that while the painting is still wet. Just be careful not to over blend the colors!

I found it easiest to paint the birds first and then the tree. Use a #4 flat brush and mars black (slightly watered down with a few drops of water). When you slightly water down black paint if flows better for painting silhouettes in!

The branch gets thinner as it goes horizontally. Note: the traceable has parts of the branches already drawn for you and you can use that as a guide to paint the branches. Allow the branch to go under the birds so it looks like they are perched.

I like doing this to my silhouettes. I think it adds more character and interest to a silhouette painting. You can certainly leave out the white. Basically, I used my #4 round and the color titanium white. I added white lines to some of the edges of the birds and branches. Make sure that black is dry before doing this! For the leaves, I used my 10/0 liner to make smaller lines on the edges.

Why? Well, first of all exterior work can be EXPENSIVE, especially when you hire it out. If I want to makeover my living room, I can spend $30 on a can of paint, do the work myself, and completely transform the space in one day on a small budget. To get the outside of my house repainted can cost thousands of dollars and take a crew of men several days to complete. And landscaping? Yikes.

I researched and hired a painting company (Royal Custom Painting if you are local to central Indiana and looking for a good recommendation), and they came out last week to start the project. First they came and power washed everything to clean and prep the surface for paint. The power washer they have is much stronger than mine, and it looked like white paint chip confetti was floating all over the yard while they worked. The house was definitely due for a good painting. They also hand scraped the garage doors and wood trim around other doors.

I think black shutters and a black door would look great. I am currently having my house painted dolphin gray with pure white trim and a red door. I purchased a red gooseneck light for my front porch and it is so cute! I also purchased two new black light fixtures for either side of my garage. I have spent a total of $2,000 but so well worth it! Now for a new storm door and it will be complete (for a while!).

I think that black shutters, a coverd area over the front door, front door painted to match your style, and flower boxes under the front windows will add a lot of character to the house. Oh, and a walkway done in brick or stone would be very classy

Wow, I had no idea, that some fun times at the beach and my lack of body confidence would resonate with so many of you . A couple of years ago I began painting my swimming ladies, just for fun and for a change from the norm.

I loved doing them and loved giving them the very brightest and fun costumes I could imagine. I enjoy people watching , and far from judging anyone , I am always very envious of the people who just go for it, and really don't worry about what anyone else thinks. We all struggle with body confidence, and these words grew out of my own feelings and talking to my friends.

I have a special pallet now, for my ladies, with all the colours I put into skin tones. I am reflecting what I see, and love, friendship, sharing , are all beautiful to me. The colours are rose madder, yellow ochre, violet , some reds, raw sienna, and some blues.

These pieces are meant to be fun. They ( hopefully ) show I can diversify and paint different things) I still adore painting landscapes and wildlife , but writing and women's experiences are also very much a part of who I am. I find life funny too, I don't know where I would be if I couldn't laugh at myself and with my friends.

So if you like these pieces , I am thrilled. This week I have added some new cards to my collection , and restocked some of my prints , as well as adding some new originals to my website. I am so glad I began painting women in all their beauty, and now I need to practice what I preach and love the skin I'm in!

Hi, love your paintings & the poems are perfect. Is it OK to copy your paintings as I do watercolours and would like to send one to a friend. I wish I could do more original things. Do you have models?
I will try to do more original works.
Thanks for your great art,
Barb

And that as long as humans express their deepest aspirations in paint and steel and stone and the human form itself, there will be children witnessing that expression whose hearts and minds and destinies will be redefined and reimagined forever.

So lets open the proverbial can of worms here and discuss craft paint . No matter what your feelings one way or the other it is the red headed step child of the paint world.
So im curious what people think of it???

However, all of this was painted using cheap craft paints, either nearly full strength (the white-black cap stones and the flat, vertical sides) or with washes and stains on the rocky, stony earth and the cut stone walls.

I make thinner from 50% bottled water and 50% future . that is used to thin the paint to a milky consistency , a bit on the heavier side . Spray light coats over a god primer.
I also use a hair dryer on low to accelerate the dry time.

Then this morning I masked the model with blue tack and sprayed a mix of Apple barrel Jet black and army painter white thinned with water and future as Chris said under a heat lamp with my dual action cheap Master airbrush. It worked really well! It sprayed about as nicely as the AK paint did!
