A lot of titles are both ANIME and MANGA. Like there is the FLCL anime
and the FLCL manga, same with a ton others (FLCL just came to mind...)
I was just wondering what yall though about different titles. Which is
better the anime or the manga?

One that comes to mind about a big difference is for "Azumanga Daioh".
I really just enjoy the manga more then the anime in that
situation....The Manga just had me laughing constantly and the anime I
did laugh at just not as much and as often...

I know most people that I talk to say that almost 70% of the time the
Manga is more enjoyable then the Anime. I just wanted to know what you
guys though :)

I agree with the manga over the anime. Take a look at what they did to Gravitation... killed it that is what that is it is now dead and that makes me sad (am i still getting the OVA? HELL YEAH :P).

then we have things like InuYasha that i saw the anime before the manga and couldn't read the manga because it is almost word for word which in most case is a good thing if you read the manga before watching the anime, however it suck if it is the other way around.

Then there is D N Angel which i love both the anime and the manga the same. The reason for this... the anime barely follows the manga in the begining but was able to keep up with it in the intrest catagory. Yes i do admit that the way that some characters (Krad) were introduced in the manga over the anime and some of the situations that happened in the manga over the anime however the art in the anime and the fact that they were able to keep the story around the same and that it all meets up in the end is a plus for me.

(sorry if that was not understandable i have to go to bed it it really late and well i have just gotten home from work too so :P)

but what about when the Anime comes first (it does happen) and then
they base a manga off of the anime?? would the anime be better then?

actually Can i change this up a little cause i have to say the dubbed anime sucks and funimation and the other companies edit and cut everything out.

This should be Original Japanese Anime Versions VS Their MANGA.
cause the American versions are already beaten and gutted enough by the editors and sensors. they do not need this to prove it cuase it shows example: One Piece Oh no poison darts are too violent edit edit edit Poison Suction cups. ANd now kid are like how does the poison get inside their bodies. oh no Guns EDIT EDIT KILL I MEAN EDIT Sling shots and now kids are like wtf sling shots won't kill they only hurt maybe if they had 1000 of them then the kids are like omg i am thinking too much. and then the kid watch the show and cry cause of it being so bad.

For me it depends upon which one i see first, typically which ever form
i see first is the one i like the most. Though the ones i have noticed
the most difference in are Tenjou Tenge and Samaurai Deeper Kyo. SDK
was so different from the manga i had trouble even watching ther series.

I have to say, I'm not the type of person who gets into manga at all.
I've tried reading manga before, and it just doesn't have the same
effect for me that anime has. In that sense I take anime over manga any
day. I've heard the anime vs. manga argument a thousand times, and it
always turns out that people think the mangas are better than the
animes, ALWAYS... I am in the minority then, because I have no
imagination and thus can't stand picture books. So yeah, regardless of
the story changes or art style changes between the manga and anime-
I'll enjoy the anime more than the manga. That's all I can really say.

People usually pick the manga because its usualy the first way a new
idea can get exposure, only ones with massive support can become
animated with out going through the cheaper graphic novel process
first. And of course people always like a idea better the first time
they see it, if it has been changed from what they like it bcecomes
something other than what they liked in the first place.

lol, I think we were all talking about anime as it's aired in Japan vs
manga as it's released in Japan. I know next to nothing about the manga
world, so I'm not sure if manga goes through the insane censorship that
some animes have to go through to be aired here. For the most part
though, the ones you have to be pissed off at for american censorship
isn't the distributors in general, it's two distributors in particular,
which is 4Kids and Funimation. Cowboy Bebop, Madlax, Noir, etc... are
examples of animes that are really unchanged except for the addition of
english dialogue, and there's hundreds more. We all know Cowboy Bebop
aired on television for a long time, so it really has nothing to do
with whether its aired or not aired, it's all about who licensed it...
Bandai, Geneon Entertainment (sometimes >_>'), Pioneer, Manga
Entertainment, ADV, Media Blasters, ToykoPop, and Viz Communications
are examples of US Distributors that keep the finished product pretty
close to the original.

As for the manga issue, after posting on here I decided I'd give manga
another shot and went out and got a manga I'd never heard of before
called Pretty Face. Well, the content may not be something acceptable
for teens, but I think it was quite good. Maybe listening to the
.Hack//Liminality soundtrack on repeat while reading it was why it
wasn't boring to me, but I managed to read all 52 chapters almost
straight through and was quite satisfied with everything except the
last two chapters. Although it's slightly off-topic, I'm thinking of
finding a good romance drama series with nice artwork, anyone have any
suggestions?

lysander - check out paradise kiss. its a couple years old but its a
wonderful series with a unique art style. its short, 5 books total.

I actually enjoy manga better than anime. there are a few that have
different endings which make it more exciting in my opinion. flcl for
example is an artsy retelling of the story. I've read both volumes over
20 times. manga usually gives more character background and leaves me
personally with better understandings of stories.

I picked up Pastel, it's licensed but hasn't been released here yet so
I'm reading the scanlations. I can't believe that they take so long to
release mangas here... Pastel is like 11 volumes I think, and they're
releasing the first one here in December, but I hear it'll take until
like late 2007 for them to release all the volumes here. WTF?! On
another note, I really like the manga ^_^ It's got a nice combination
of humor and romance, maybe a bit too much humor for my taste but still
quite good. The main female character seems to be somewhat of an
airhead a lot of time, or rather... it's really hard to tell what she's
thinking, which annoys me. Check it out if you like comedy/romance
mangas everyone ^_^ I think it's shonen (for guys) too though... cuz
it's a bit ecchi... I dunno...
