The ability to download medical apps on mobile devices has made a wealth of mobile clinical resources available to HCPs.15 Medical apps for many purposes are available, including ones for electronic prescribing, diagnosis and treatment, practice management, coding and billing, and CME or e-learning.9,10 A broad choice of apps that assist with answering clinical practice and other questions at the point of care exist, such as: drug reference guides, medical calculators, clinical guidelines and other decision support aids, textbooks, and literature search portals.7,13,15 There are even mobile apps that simulate surgical procedures or that can conduct simple medical exams, such as hearing or vision tests.6,7 Many mobile apps are not intended to replace desktop applications, but are meant to complement them in order to provide a resource that has the potential to improve outcomes at the point of care.7 The use of medical apps has become frequent and widespread; 70% of medical school HCPs and students reported using at least one medical app regularly, with 50% using their favorite app daily.1,9

The increased use of these devices by clinicians in their personal and working lives has also raised important medicolegal and ethical implications.8 Consequently, establishing standards and policies within health care institutions will be necessary to ensure ethical and transparent conduct.7,11 A call has also been made for the examination of the effect of mobile devices and medical apps on clinical education.4 Adoption of these recommended measures will be greatly helpful in guiding clinicians, administrators, educators, and researchers in determining how to best incorporate these increasingly sophisticated tools into clinical practice.10 Best-practice standards for medical app developers should also be established.11 These standards will raise the barrier for entry into the medical app market, limiting the overwhelming quantity and increasing the quality of the apps currently available to HCPs and patients.11

You will only ever be billed by a provider who is licensed to practice medicine without direction. This means you will not be billed when a clinician such as a registered nurse, social worker, or resident physician replies to your message. The kinds of providers who are currently billing for MyChart messages include:

MyChart is available at most Allegheny Health Network physician offices. Please check with your doctor's office to learn more. You only need one MyChart account to see information from any Allegheny Health Network visit.

Patients with an active MyChart account can be offered earlier appointment times via email or text message. Please make sure your email address and mobile phone number are updated. You can update your contact information or change which alerts you receive by going to the Communication" section under the "Profile" menu.

You can use MyChart to view the results of lab tests and imaging procedures performed at any Henry Ford facility, regardless of your other doctors' affiliation or utilization of MyChart. Radiology images are currently not available; you will only see a summary of the results.

Inpatient and Emergency Department patients will have tests resulted during your stay released to your MyChart account upon discharge. Additional tests resulted after you leave (post-discharge) will be released to your MyChart account immediately. If you use MyChart Bedside, only available within MyChart Mobile App, during your inpatient hospital stay, your results will release immediately.

The right to privacy, without which the Americans are not secure in their own homes, is seriously threatened. It is easy for anyone anywhere to access information as personal as your address and phone number, even if they are not listed in the telephone directory. Even your Social Security number is available, and the chief agent giving out this kind of information is the very government that is supposed to protect its citizens.

Yes, exactly the same applies in this case as well. There will be no roaming charges for your calls to fixed and mobile lines within that European country. For example, if you are travelling to Greece and you are using your Epic line to make calls or send SMS to Greek numbers, the airtime minutes and SMS you use will be deducted from the inclusive airtime minutes and SMS of your plan, as usual.

To activate these services, subscribers first need to enter their mobile phone number on the registration webpage of each service. They will then receive an SMS with a PIN number that they must enter on the registration webpage. The activation process is completed after checking the relevant tick box to confirm that they have read and accepted the Terms and Conditions. Thereafter, subscribers will receive an SMS from Epic asking them to confirm their request to subscribe to the service. Following a positive reply and the successful completion of the registration, subscribers will receive an SMS both from Epic and the service provider confirming the activation of their subscription and offering information on how to unsubscribe and the frequency of the charges.

As we expand use of our electronic medical record system to all of our outpatient practices, more of your records will be available to you electronically. If you have been an inpatient or Emergency Department patient at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, those records will be available to you online. Currently, My Health shows only selected parts of your medical record. Remember that your personal Penn State Hershey care providers can discuss any medical issues with you, including those not currently accessible in My Health.

Please note: Registration is only available for laptop or desktop computer users. It is not available on mobile devices at this time. You may also contact your Summit Health provider's office to request an email invitation to the patient portal.

Many of your medical records should be available. However, there are times when some information may not appear. Certain laws don't allow providers to automatically post notes and results in your account, while some notes or results can only be made available once your provider has discussed them with you.

In the past, all users of a certain type (physicians, residents, nurses, techs) had the same fixed trackboard views, however since the February 2019 release of Epic, many organizations now let physicians customize which columns show up on each view of their trackboard. This can be done by clicking the wrench icon at the right-hand side of the ED trackboard screen. In the first tab, you can select which columns you want displayed on the full or side-by-side (SxS) trackboards for a given view. In the second tab, you can arrange the order or hide certain trackboard views from automatically displaying. Your organization may require certain columns to always be displayed (these will appear with a lock icon) and you are only able to add columns that your organization has decided to make available to you.
