Animata becomes unresponsive with 30 vertexes

Hi,
I've compiled Animata on Ubuntu 13.10. When I add an image (this one http://imgur.com/WfqcYZ3 ) and add vertexes Animata becomes slow and unresponsive once I add around 30 vertexes.
Is there any way to get around this?
I'm using a Dell XPS13
