This is Roxy, 2yr old, 25lbs, female Micro Bully given up by her owners because they were moving to a place that would not allow her. She is underweight and has some redness to her feet from licking and the owner thinks it is from chicken in her food. Owner said she is shy, nice, housebroken, crate trained, lived with teenagers, used to live with another dog and got along, had her for 3 months, good in the car, quiet in the house, and trusted alone loose in house.
Here are the shelter she is very scared. She will growl at people in her kennel because she is cornered and cannot get away. If you are calm and gentle, you can can get her to come to you, but she will whine growl to show how scared she is. You can eventually get a leash around her neck too.
When we had her out of her cage and around a male Pit Bull, she opened up and actually approached a new person and let them pet her. She also showed a glimmer of trust in handling. One of our handlers has had her out a few times working with her and she comes to her now, submissive and worried but no growling. So she has great potential out of a kennel environment.
You must understand that if someone tries to pet her too soon, she is really scared. She will growl and then snap at their hand if they continue without giving her time to get used to them. She is also very food motivated which helps a lot.
Here is a video to show what we got her to do today with the animal handler who has been working with her. https://youtu.be/oIJMCgFqT1E?si=OZGhuuo5ZmT-n31l
