Young, fun, and full of life. Rockstar personality. Done everything right in our care, and honestly, we are shocked not a single inquiry or visit request, adoption floor.
Name: Monkey
Kennel ID: 43
GAFFNEY, SC.
Hold Ends: Stray hold has ended. Needs help ASAP!
Breed: Lab x
Appearance: Black/white
Gender: Neutered male
Estimated Age: 2yrs
Estimated Weight: 53lbs
Health: No obvious issues. HEARTWORM (Negative).
Bio: Monkey is a young, happy-go-lucky guy with a big personality and some really pretty markings to match. He’s the kind of dog who seems to enjoy everything and everyone he meets.
Full of energy and always in a good mood, Monkey is ready to trade shelter life for a home where he can play, explore, and be part of a family.
If you’re looking for a fun, friendly companion, Monkey might be your guy. Come meet him and see for yourself!
Other Dogs: He tests well with other dogs. Video available to our rescue partners by request.
Cats: Non-reactive. We recommend using caution until everyone shows they can be trusted.
Children: We do not have kids to test with. We always recommend supervising children around dogs/puppies. Sometimes our dogs/puppies are active and might be too big for small children, and sometimes the children can be too rough around dogs.
Leash: He walks well on a leash.FORWARDED / 2PM / JUNE 9
from: Cherokee County SC Animal Shelter <cherokee...@gmail.com> Dear Rescue Partners,We are reaching out today with an urgent plea for several of our shelter dogs who have been overlooked through no fault of their own.
Over the coming weeks, you will likely see us highlighting many of our longest-resident animals. These are dogs who have waited far longer than any animal should have to wait for a second chance. They are wonderful companions who simply have not found the right adopter or rescue opportunity yet.
As many of you know, our rescue division operates from within our municipal open-intake shelter. By law and by mission, our shelter exists to serve the community and provide a safe haven for animals in need. For as long as possible, we have utilized a waiting list system to help manage intake and avoid overwhelming our capacity. However, with the continued influx of animals requiring assistance from Animal Control, we have reached a point where that approach is no longer sustainable.
We all know that Animal Control responds to cases involving stray, neglected, abused, injured, and at-risk animals. We cannot ignore the urgent needs of animals currently suffering in the field and awaiting assistance.
Because of these ongoing capacity challenges, we have made the difficult decision to implement a maximum holding period of three months for animals that are available for adoption or rescue. This decision was not made lightly. It comes after extensive efforts to balance the welfare of the animals currently in our care with our responsibility to continue serving animals in crisis throughout our community.
We are asking for your help. If you have available space, transport options, foster homes, or any ability to assist one of our longer-term residents, we would be incredibly grateful.
We know that many organizations are facing similar challenges, and we deeply appreciate everything you do to save lives. Thank you for your continued partnership, compassion, and support. Together, we can help ensure that these deserving dogs have the opportunity to find the homes and futures they deserve.
