This is Ulla, a unique cat. She is a small, 3yr old, medium silky haired, blue cream Tortie. She could be a Turkish Angora mix. Her owner had a medical issue and could not longer keep her. Ulla came in with two kittens who she raised and have since been adopted. Ulla was a great Mom. She has been up for adoption for a few weeks now, but we have to limit her visits a lot. Let us explain. When you first meet Ulla, she gets up, comes over and meows in her cage. Most of the time we can put our hand in and she will come up to rub on us and enjoys the attention. Sometimes though, she will raise her paw as if to ask you to leave her alone. No big deal, we can do that. However, she cannot live in a cage 24/7. When Ulla is taken out to our visiting room for playtime and exercise, our volunteers are not always able to get her to take her back to her cage. She will go after them to leave her alone. (Can you blame her?) She is a smart cat and knows she is going back to her cage. She has been here since June 6th because she had to raise the kittens….also in a cage. She needs a rescue to pull her into a foster home so she has more room. If she bites or scratches to break the skin when she corrects someone from interacting with her, legally she has to go on quarantine for 10 days, by herself….in a cage in the back. In preventing this she is very limited for time out of her cage because we have a low number of cat volunteers who understand cat behavior and how to interact with her, so they just choose not to.
Here is a recent video of her: https://youtube.com/shorts/lf9L2g2CaMA?si=KNB7OQ5dUZs-vj5R

She is an easy cat to read and she gives you warning by raising her paw slowly and hesitating. She just gets overstimulated. In addition, she is in heat and now crazy posturing. So far, she has done well while in heat, but she has got to get out of the shelter asap to save her behavior from changing from being confined too much.
If you can take this pet, be sure to send me an email by Sunday night, 9-14-25, so I can make a note of it.
After this date we will continue to monitor her behaviors and safety around the visitors coming to our shelter.
