Making a pets dream come true 083 241 4452
December is approaching and its a bad time of the year for all us shelters as many pets are dumped and very few are re-homed. Its not only a sad time for us that are running the shelters but also for the poor pets that are abandoned and need our help. Without you the animal lover these pets have a slim chance in the shelters. The shelter are filled to over flowing at this time of year and us as pro life shelters (example: FOR A, Irwin Rescue, Animal Ambulance) have to turn many away due to lack of funds, food, blankets and space. Also at this time of the year our feeding scheme in the townships suffer. Putting an animal to sleep is not an option for a pro life shelter we try and help them all.
Update on Tiny:
Tiny is doing extremely well on his Hydrotherapy and last week he took his first 3 steps all by himself. The vet is very pleased with his progress but we are not done with him just yet. Loads of more hydrotherapy still to come. (But the light is on at the end of that tunnel). During the day he wears special socks that he has learnt to remove and the vet says that's a very good sign as that means he can feel the socks on.
Update on Nancy:
Nancy is finally TVT cancer free and is finished with her chemo YAY!!!! 3 weeks ago though she had to return to the vet with a hemorrhage on her back. (She looked like a camel hee hee) She was sedated and pipes we placed in her back to drain the liquid. Last week the pipes were removed and she is back to being a dog and not a camel. Poor Nancy has under gone so much but she's still smiling and ready to find a good loving home.
Update on Sheila: She was picked up on the old JHB road after she was hit by a car 2 weeks ago and still no one has come forward asking for their missing pet. She had loads of wounds on her legs and the vet treated her and placed her on antibiotics. They finished now and the girl is still limping so she will be back at the vet tomorrow. But yet she has come out of her shell and has started walking among us as though she has been here forever. Having a good bath, shave and pamper on Monday has really refreshed her.
For us to be able to continue our work we have to look to you the animal lovers out there, for without you none of this is possible. Please donate a bag of dog food or even just an old blanket anything will be much appreciated.
Regards Maria Phelan Animal Ambulance
